National interest on the Hybrid vehicle increases.

March 17, 2009

A number of weeks ago, I posted a blog about the car titled “The greenest car of the year”, the Honda Civic GX. In light of the Honda Civic’s recent success I decided to monitor whether greener cars have grown in popularity in comparison to gas guzzlers, such as the Hummer. I did this through the use of a useful search engine, google insight .I found that in last 12 months, there’s been a dramatic increase in the number of web surfers that have researched the Hybrid. More specifically, the words “honda hybrid 2009” have been searched the most in the last 12 months with a dramatic increase of +550%.

The District of Columbia appears to be researching the hybrid the most, followed by Organ and California. Conversely, the state Nevada appears to show the greatest interest in the Hummer in-comparison to the rest of the US. Despite the fact that Nevada shows the greatest interest in the Hummer, according to results on google insight the hybrid vehicle continues to draw the greatest interest.

This is great news eco-warriors! It is a relief to know that gas guzzlers such as the Hummer is decreasing in popularity.

Hummer: an attribute towards US greenhouse emissions

Hummer: an attribute towards US greenhouse emissions

In light of my previous blog on Europe’s success in attempting to  accomodate environmental data for all, it seems  fitting to follow with a few pointers for the US from an EU official.

European Commissions Deputy-Director, Joe Delbeke made recent news after expressing the proposition by Obama to cut down US gas emissions back to 1990 levels by 2020, will not be sufficient in preventing devastating climate change.

The Environmental challenges S.P.E.L.T out for Europe

March 7, 2009

I don’t know about you, but often when I’m reading up on environmental issues and the challenges we face in regards to this can be rather overwhelming. Much of the text uses scientific jargon sometimes making it impossible for the average reader to understand.
